World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk said Jeff Hardy didn’t stand a chance against him. There was no way a flawed man like Hardy could defeat a competitor who follows the straightedge way of life, Punk claimed. But at Night of Champions, Jeff Hardy proved CM Punk wrong when he pinned him in the center of the ring and captured his second World Heavyweight Championship.

It was Tommy Dreamer’s wish to defend his hard-earned ECW Championship against Christian at Night of Champions. But the ECW Original fell to his friend in the city with the longest and most storied ECW history, the City of Brotherly Love, Philadelphia, when Christian became ECW Champion.

Though doused in the face with perfume by Maryse less than a week before battling for the Divas Championship, Mickie James emerged smelling like a rose after defeating the conceited French Canadian to capture the WWE butterfly.

After Chris Jericho made the jaw-dropping announcement to the capacity crowd at Night of Champions that the immense Big Show would stand by his side in his Unified Tag Team Championship Match, the elite combination reigned supreme over Ted DiBiase and Cody Rhodes to secure the gold.

In a scene greatly resembling WrestleMania XXIV, The Viper repeated history at Night of Champions by retaining the WWE Championship in a Triple Threat Match against both John Cena and The Game.

With the odds stacked against him in a Six Pack Challenge, United States Champion Kofi Kingston did the unthinkable and defeated his five opponents to retain his title at Night of Champions.

Young Dolph Ziggler has been trying to make a name for himself in WWE. He looked like he might succeed on this night, but veteran Intercontinental Champion Rey Mysterio said no how, no way.

The WWE Universe may have thought Michelle McCool was all talk – boasting that she was the greatest Diva in the history of WWE – without backing up her claims. But in the City of Brotherly Love, the former schoolteacher pulled out the hard-fought victory over a formidable foe in Melina, retaining her gold.
